Details are beginning to come in: at 06:07 AM CST (that's here in Saskatchewan), at the Manor Hospital in Walsall, West Midlands, UK, a 6lb-13oz girl named TAYLOR WENDY was brought into this world!
Alcyia enjoyed the effects of the morphine for awhile, but was soon able to hold and feed her daughter! Both are resting comfortabley now! Gramma Ruth and Dad Danny are still buzzing around, but are going to try and get some sleep in a bit. Grandpa Dave can stop pacing the floor and sit down. Grandpa Bill (that's me) has his fingertips bandaged up from where he bit his fingernails down to the quick! Everyone else can begin to get back to their normal (?) lives!
It seems to me that the only one who should be annoyed would be TAYLOR (I'm beginning to get quite attached to that name)! After all, there she was, happy, warm, and safe in her own little world, when all of a sudden - WHAM - she's yanked out into a bright, cold, noisy, hostile world! Someone takes a pair of sharp scissors and cuts what used to be her life line; someone else slaps her on the behind; she gets rubbed down with a wet cloth; she gets poked, pinched and prodded; someone sticks her tiny feet into some ink and then pushs them onto a piece of paper; then she gets wrapped up in a rough blanket; has water flicked in her face so someone can take a picture! Welcome to your new home!
If that sounds cynical, don't worry! It's just my sleep deprivation showing!
